My name is Shannon and I blog and share over at Fox Hollow Cottage. One of the things that I love the very most about blogging is the supportive community of like-minded women. When Doreen let us know about her upcoming surgery, everyone rushed in to lend a virtual hand. You know you are loved when people are happy to hop over to your blog and help entertain your readers when you can't. Our blogs are such labors of love and you, the reader, become friends that we don't want to let down.
Doreen is particularity talented so I know y'all must be really, really spoiled by the projects she shares! I'm a simple girl, and like to keep things pretty easy over at the hollow, so I hope I don't disappoint.
With the holidays coming, I figured it would be timely to share something Fall'ish that might be fun for Thanksgiving as well.
A fresh flower garland.

Like I said, simple wins at our house and nothing is easier or cheaper than a tin-can craft.
Dress up tins cans with a burlap wrapper and fill with Fall blooms for a living garland.

It's pretty, has great texture and it's a little unexpected.
If you'd like to create a tin-can flower garland for your home, follow the steps below:
- Gather tin-cans. I like the pop top cans for a clean opening.
- TIP - I run mine through the dishwasher before I craft with them
- TIP - Use a metal file to knock-off any burs that may be present to prevent cuts or scrapes.
- Cut burlap to size. Length and width to cover you exact can.
- Adhere burlap with a strip of glue up the back. Press and hold.
- Use a large nail and a hammer to puncture a hole on each side, near the top.
- String one can to the other with a length of wire between, twist to secure.
- Repeat until you have the length of garland desired.
- Place where you want it.
- Fill with flowers. I used one bundle of cut flowers from the grocery store!
- Add water.
My pallet was very serene, with natural elements, creamy whites, gourds and twigs and such.

You could certainly go bold with a riot of Autumn colors for a vivid version!

I went super-simple, but you can add additional layers and elements like painted on letters, numbers, colorful ribbon, family photos, the possibilities are endless.

Wishing YOU a wonderful holiday season.. and Doreen relaxed recuperation and speedy healing!!
Thanks for letting my fill-in today.
