Do you remember that line from You've Got Mail when Tom Hanks brings Meg Ryan a bouquet of daisies when she is suffering from a horrible cold. In her cold and probably medication induced haze, she says "I love daisies . . . they're so friendly. Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?"
That's what I think of every time I see daisies now! In fact, I want to add some daisies to my perennial beds!
These daisies I got from the grocery store. They were marked as Poms and were two for the price of one - $5 for two large bunches! Can't beat that!
I wanted them to make this lemon and daisy centerpiece for my dining room table. I was sprucing up for my home tour over at Debbiedoo's today.
The centerpiece is super easy - just stack lemons (real or fake) around the perimeter of a straight vase. Leave the center open for the flowers. I cut my daisy stems to the length I wanted them and placed them in the center. After the daisies were arranged how I wanted them, I slowly added the water. Don't add water over the top layer of the lemons or they will shift and start to float (I found out the hard way, of course).
As you can see, with the two $5 bunches, I had enough daisies to spread around. Hope you have a fun weekend planned! We are going to simply relax at home this weekend after all the painting that went on this past week.
