A Day of Shopping in Lancaster County

Yesterday I needed some supplies for my Etsy shop and for some home projects.    Living among the plain people here in Lancaster County provides many unique shopping experiences, and I thought you might like to come along with me!   (All the pictures were taken on my Iphone, so the quality isn't great)

My first stop - a fabric outlet.  I love Calico Corners fabric outlet at the outlet mall for designer fabrics at affordable prices, but this place is definitely NOT Calico Corners and not at a mall!  Way out in the country is a large warehouse full of fabric, trims, buttons - you name it.  It's not fancy, but it's cheap!

My favorite thing to get here is the trim!  I have found some great trims for home projects here and you can see the price!  I actually got this entire roll of jute rope trim for $3.27 because it was a partial roll!

I needed some lace for a home project that I'll be sharing soon and it was 1.83 a yard!  Sometimes they have upholstery fabric, but not much in the way of designer fabric.  It's definitely worth a drive in the country for certain things!  My next stop is my favorite little roadside workshop and junk shop.

I've found many treasures here, but the best treasure is the friendship I have made with the 83 year old man and his wife who make things out of junk!  Donna would love this place!

He makes the frames I use in my shop from old house and barn siding.  He also creates wonderful repurposed items and his craftsmanship is amazing - he uses no power tools whatsoever!

Here is the potting bench he made for me last spring!  His wife does the painting and is very creative in her own right!

Here are a few of the dozens of doors that he has in an outside shed that he uses to store the treasures he finds!  Some things he repurposes, but he also picks up other things just for resale at incredible prices.  He always has lots of old chairs, ladders, wooden crates, and window panes.  I picked up the frames that I had ordered and was off to my next stop!

I needed some flowers for another project, so I stopped at my favorite greenhouse.   It's quite large and has such a variety of annuals and perennials.

One of my favorite perennials is the Forget-Me-Not.  Unfortunately, they don't like me very well.  I've tried and tried to grow these blue beauties for years in different spots in my flower beds, without much success.

They also have beautiful ready made planters that are quite unique.  Here are some succulent planters.

There are always lots of beautiful geraniums here and the entire place is full of hanging baskets!  I found the plants I needed and picked up some really pretty plum colored tulips left over from Easter!  They were buy one, get one free!  Can't pass that up!

I hope you enjoyed shopping with me today in Lancaster county!   I have more to share on another day from this outing!  It was a little side track adventure that really deserves its own post!   Hope your day is sunny!

Blessings,
