Today I wanted to share some of the ornaments I used on my living room tree. Some were purchased this year, but most of them I've had for many years and use over and over again.
Some have been repurposed like these glass pinecone ornaments. In their former life, they were gold! When I switched up my colors to more cool tones in the living room last year, I just spray painted them silver.
Here's my very favorite silver spray paint. It is Sterling Silver and I buy it at AC Moore.
I like to add some handmade ornaments to my tree each year - these silver walnuts I've been using for many years as well. They, too, got a makeover last year and went from gold to silver. I even spray painted the cord hanger. They are real walnuts with a tiny eye screw that I hand screwed into the top of each walnut and then tied with a cord for hanging.
Another DIY ornament are these reindeer cut outs. I've used them before, but remade them this year with a heavier, off white card stock - 110 lb. Once they were cut out, I just used a paint brush to paint the antlers with glue and sprinkled some silver German glass glitter on both sides. They are my favorite ornament this year!
Here are the templates in case you would like to make some yourself. They would also make great place cards on your dining table or tags for Christmas gifts!
Here are a few of the other ornaments on the tree. The glittery bird nest and mercury glass ornaments were both Home Goods purchases this year! I can't help buy a few new ornaments each year, but I try to get things that I know I will use for many years to come.
The glass balls I've had for years. On the left of this photo is another favorite of mine, a simple twisted tin icicle. I purchased a set of these at a craft show about ten years ago and I've used them every year since! The glittery ribbon was purchased at a local shop last year and it really adds sparkle to the tree!

And the crowning glory of my tree is the mirrored star that I found at Marshall's this year! I know I will be using it for many years !
I also wanted to tell you about the Christmas Tree Contest going on over at The DIY Showoff! Roeshel is having a contest where the tree with the most "Likes" wins $100. Just click the button below to go to the contest page.
I entered both of my trees - #18 is my back porch tree
#15 is my flocked tree in the living room. I would be so grateful for a few "Likes" from my readers - I could use that $100 for some projects I have planned in the new year!
