I received so many requests for my silhouette nativity templates that I decided to share them again this year. I originally made these last Christmas and love them so much, that I used them again this year. I will share how I made them and the templates will be at the bottom of this post. I also got a lot of requests for templates of my "O Holy Night" banner. So, I am also including those at the bottom of this post. The templates are the same size as mine and are ready for you to print on your home printer on card stock. Just cut them out, punch holes at the top ends, and string some ribbon or twine through the holes to hang your banner.
My nativity is larger than the jpeg images below. You can either print them on your home printer and then take them to your local copy center to be enlarged or you can send the digital images to the copy center for enlargement. If you decide to print them yourself, you will need legal sized paper to print most of them. Use your own judgement when making your enlargements - adjust the size to where you will place your nativity set.
I cut my silhouettes from white poster board. Once you have your silhouettes cut out, if you want yours to sparkle like mine, then now is the time to add the glitter. I used real silver German glass glitter from Meyer Imports. When I received my glitter, I put it in a plastic storage container with a sealed lid to keep it from tarnishing.
The quality of this glitter is beyond what you can buy at your local craft store. It is actually small particles of real silver. It does tarnish over time, but I like that look too. To keep your silhouettes from tarnishing a bit longer, store them in an airtight container like a large ziplock bag.
I used a small, flat artist paint brush to apply regular Elmer's school glue over the surface of my silhouette and then generously poured on the glitter to make sure it was completely covered. Add the glitter over a piece of poster board and then pour the excess back into your container.
Once each silhouette is hot glued in place, I added some greens to the scene. This year I added less than last year because I like to see the birch branches peeking through.
Here are the templates for both the nativity characters and the "O Holy Night" banner. I am so happy that so many of you liked the nativity set. Please let me know if you decide to make one of your own!
